The Cornish are Coming!
A warm welcome from the Mayor of Looe
Dynnargh arbennik dhe Logh

The town of Looe welcomes you to Dehwelans.

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to Dehwelans Looe - or the Homecoming in Cornish. The community of Looe has come together to provide a full programme of artistic and cultural events, lectures, trips to surrounding villages and opportunities for the Cornish diaspora to share their experiences. We hope this gathering will be the platform to forge lasting relationships with our Cornish cousins from around the World. Hopefully this website and monthly newsletters will give you an up-to-date flavour of what you can expect this September. Rest assured you will receive an enthusiastic welcome and be well looked after with a dynamic and interesting week celebrating all things Cornish. I look forward to greeting you at the Mayor's Reception on Tuesday 2nd September.  Ron Overd Looe Town Mayor

Dehwelans thanks

Following a successful week packed with activities, I am in the process of tidying up loose ends and collating the 100’s of photographs that were taken during Dehwelans. These photographs will be published on the site in due course and copies can be ordered directly from the photographers.

First feedback from visitors indicates that they enjoyed their week in Looe and will return home with fond memories of a welcoming and friendly community.

It seems that the week was a welcome boost for businesses that have had a tough trading year so far.

Of course the week would not have run so smoothly (despite a battle at times against the elements and coaches breaking down!) without the support and help of an army of volunteers.

Lets hope the town can build on Dehwelans 2008, maybe in 2010......??
